Beliefs/Philosophy (guides the program)
The IKM-Manning counseling departments advocates the following statements:
- All students can learn
- All students have a right to participate in the school counseling program
- All students’ ethnic, cultural, racial and sexual differences and special needs are considered in planning and implementing the school counseling program
- The comprehensive school guidance program will be planned and implemented by a qualified school counselor for all PreK-12 students
- The school counseling department will utilize the many combined community and county resources
- The school counseling program will be evaluated by the counseling department on specified goals and agreed upon student competencies
- Members of the school counseling program will participate in professional development and abide by the professional school counseling ethics as advocated by the American School Counselor Association
Mission Statement: (student is the client)
The mission of IKM-Manning Schools’ counseling department is to provide a comprehensive, developmental counseling program to all students regardless of individual differences. The program addresses the academic, career and personal/social development of all students. Our goal is for all students to be able to function as productive members in a global society.
